Good Fish (translated from Japanese)
The other day, my stomach hurt. Soon after breakfast, I vomited. Was the cause the fish I had eaten for dinner? Or was the cause a side effect of chemotherapy?
I went to the fish store and said, “Last night’s fish…Did anybody else get a stomach ache?”
The fish monger replied, “No.”
I asked the doctor. He said, “Of course, side effect of the chemotherapy caused the vomiting.”
I went back to the fish shop after a few days. “My stomach feels better,” I said.
In sympathy, the fishmonger discounted the price by half. I gave ten dollars for a cut of sashimi, and got back five dollars. I bought another kind of fish with the change.
It was good.
