Close inspection of the photo reveals the disc of the sun rising over the mountain ridge. The sun appears to be horizontally about halfway between the pair of low peaks (left, north) and the single high peak (right, south). The pair of low peaks are the point of the summer solstice sunrise. The winter solstice point is out of the range of this photo.
The rainy season was very long in Japan--from late June through most of July. This is the first sunrise I have seen seen since before June 21.
