Reading, writing (Japanese and Engish translation)
読書する
最近は 私は 読むことが たくさん あります。
例えば C.S. Lewis “A Grief Observed” を読みました。その本は彼の奥さんの肺がんについて書いてあります。また、Warrior of Zen: the diamond-hard wisdom mind of Suzuki
Shōsan をよみました。その本は、『死を 習う』はなしです。
その二冊の本は 『 がんばる』ことを 教えています。
私は 日記を 書いています。 絵も描きます。 それは私に
創造的な時間を提供してくれます。

Reading
I have been reading a lot recently. For example, I read C.S. Lewis’ A GRIEF OBSERVED. That book is about the death of his wife from cancer. And I read WARRIOR OF ZEN: THE DIAMOND-HARD WISDOM MIND OF SUZUKI SHOUSAN. That book concerns learning of death.
The two books teach perseverance.
I have been writing a diary and drawing pictures. Creative time is offered me.

Piano tuning (Japanese and English translation)
ピアノ が 家に 来ました。 ピアノを弾くことが 大
好きですから。 以前は 大学で ピアノ を 弾けただけでした。 もちろん 家で 電子ピアノ が毎日 使えましたが、 不便 でした。 弾きやすいので、 指が 強くなりませんでした。 そして ピアノのレ ッ ス ンでは 私の指が強くないので、先生の所にある本物のピアンの音がうまくでません。
昔、ピアノの先生の ピアノの 音が狂っている と 思ったことがありました。
ピアノが届けられたので、私は 弾いてみた。
「良い音がします」と、私は ピアノストアの 山田さんに 言いました。
「調律師が すぐ 来ますよ。明日か、明後日、お留守の時は ありますか？」と、山田さんは たずねました。
私は まだ ピアノを 上手にひけません。
Because I like playing very much, a piano arrived at my house. Before now, I could only play a real piano in music rooms of the universities at which I teach English. Of course, I have had a piano at home—an electronic piano. The Roland electronic piano, however, is inconvenient because of being so easy to play. My fingers do not become strong. And at my weekly piano lesson, the baby grand piano of the teacher sounds bad.
I thought once that a piano teacher's piano was out of tune.
When the piano movers were finished and had gone, I opened the lid of the piano and tried to play.
“It sounds OK,” I told Mr. Yamada, who stood by.
“The piano tuner will come soon. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, is there any time you will not be available?” Mr. Yamada asked.
I am not yet very skillful playing piano.

Photo of sunrise about a week after spring equinox--as soon as meteorological opportunity allowed.
Mt. Hiei to left of spot of sunrise.
Sun apparently moving towards Mt. Hiei.
By summer solstice, sun will rise to the left of Mr. Hiei.
Planets (Japanese, and the translated English)
惑星 （わくせい）
今日は 晴れだったので、 惑星が 見えました。 今晩は惑星が三つ見えます。
春ですから。
金星は 輝いていました。 水星はそれほど輝いていませんが、 金星に近い位置にあるので、水星を 見つけることができました。
火星は 赤く、空の高いところにありました。
でも、 この三つの惑星は 一直線に並んでいるはずなのに、そうではありません。
どうしてなのでしょう。
The Planets (English translation from Japanese)
Because the sky was clear, planets could be seen tonight. Three planets were visible at dusk. The reason has something to do with Spring.
Venus was bright. Mercury was not bright but could be found by sighting on nearby Venus. The red Mars was high in the sky.
But the three planets were not in a straight line； I wonder why.
今日は 晴れだったので、 惑星が 見えました。 今晩は惑星が三つ見えます。
春ですから。
金星は 輝いていました。 水星はそれほど輝いていませんが、 金星に近い位置にあるので、水星を 見つけることができました。
火星は 赤く、空の高いところにありました。

春休み カリフォルニアへ行き、今年になってはじめて 兄と姉に会うことができました。肺がんにかかっていると分かってから初めての再会です。 兄弟は 三人です。
兄と姉は 双児 です。 姉 は サンフランシスコ に 住んで、 兄は タホ湖に住んでいます。
私は サンフランシスコの海辺を散歩したいのですが、 天気が 良くない。
すぐに 山のタホの兄の家 へ 車 で行かなければなりませんです。
サンフランシスコの路上で 私は 兄弟 を 抱きしめた （だきしめた）。
私は 見えない糸で結ばれているようです。 三人 と 空の間 にはへその緒があるようです。
私は成仏 （じょうぶつ）できるようです。 幸福になれるでしょう。
